Big Fish and Make Up Trips!!!

Hello to all, Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving wiht family and friends and is getting ready for Christmas and the upcoming holidays!!! Since midNovember we have had some great fishing and it only seems to keep getting bigger and better. We are seeing some 20 lb. fish around now and plenty of 24-30" and even a few hogs around, we have had such great action on these large schoolies to small pigs, we haven't been targeting the real big fish yet. The big fish are here it's just a slow pluck when we've been looking for them.  Just want to update everyone that we plan to fish out of Reedville until December 31 and do not plan on heading to the ocean unless the bass and/or tunas show up on the oceanfront. We still have some open dates available and even have a couple sundays available for those who can't get a chance to get off during the week. We are also attempting to put together a couple walk on trips on fridays, 12/11 and 12/18, for those who want to get some rockfishing in before Christmas but don't have full groups. the cost of these walk on trips are $125 per person and covers mate's tip and all. For more info. on these dates and availabilty give us a call or shoot us an email. Or better yet, call up some of your buddies and get your own group together. We hope everyone has a great holiday season and hope to see you all soon!!!!

C5 is here and we're ready to go fishing!!!

Hello Everyone, Hope you have had a great start to the fall and are ready for these cooler and shorter days we are starting to have. We haven't been doing much fishing lately, but are ready to get the ball rolling on that now. We took off most of the first month of fall rockfish season for my wife and I to welcome our daughter into the world and get adjusted to the life of being parents, it's one of the few things that I will say is hands down better than fishing. Now that we are all settled into a somewhat normal routine, she says it's time for dad to get back to fishing and it will be just in time!! Rockfishing is starting to get really good with lots of school sized fish all over the Bay, we are catching them trolling, chumming, live lining, and jigging all on light tackle. This action should continue to stay great for the next few weeks and as we start getting these cooler temperatures on a more consistent basis, we'll see some bigger fish starting to get into the mix and hopefully continue that trend right on through the end of December. We will be doing things a little different this year and plan to fish out of Reedville, until the end of 2015 and shutting it down after New Year's UNLESS some fish show up down VA Beach and we'll be on the scene the next day, but with the trend in recent years in the ocean, we won't be making plans to fish in the ocean this winter, but who know what Mother Nature will have in store for us. After getting the boat all rigged for rock fishing again over the past couple weeks, we've got the itch and are waiting on you to go out and get in on some of the action!!! Don't wait too long to book your date as over half our weekend dates through the end of the year are already booked. Look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on board!!!

Fall is here and rockfish season is right around the corner!!!

Hello everyone, Hope you have enjoyed your summer and are getting ready for fall. With fall here now, means that rockfish are right around the corner with our season opening on October 4th. First I'd like to thank everyone who fished with us over the summer whether it was mackerel and blues, cobia fishing, or flats fishing for trout and drum. The end of the summer is now here and we are switching gears to start targeting rockfish and we are still doing well flats fishing on the trout. Flats fishing is pretty good right now in the marshes with lots of small to medium trout and a few bigger ones showing up which should change to even more big ones after this cold front comes through this week. Aboard the Anna Lynn, we are putting the grinder back on the boat and getting ready to start chumming our local reefs and wrecks for rockfish and the few blues that are still around. We'll be chumming and livelining for the next few weeks until some breaking fish start showing up and we'll begin trolling and casting to some decent sized rockfish. We should be catching some decent sized fish from day one right through midNovember when we will switch over to the big gear and moving to the deep water looking for the big migratory fish making their way down the bay. We will be running charters on weekends from now until midNovember and then the schedule will open up to 7 days a week throught the end of the year. Don't wait too long to get your group together and give us a caall for some great fall fishing on the Chesapeake Bay!!

Cobias in Reedville!!!

Hello everyone, Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and had a great holiday weekend. I know every spring we always have a few customers ask about cobia fishing and usually we don't catch enough of them to really consider targeting them, but this year is different. With warm water temperatures and higher salinity levels here locally, our area has become the home to the cobras this summer for about 3 weeks now and the fishing seems to just be getting better and better. With large numbers of fish around and some true hogs up to 70 lbs. in the area, if you ever wanted to wrestle one of these bruisers now is the time. We are still only running trips on the weekends, but we have dates available to get your chance at battling these fish. Not only are the great fighters, but they go real well on the grill or in the deep fryer!! These fish should hang around for a while and is giving us some of the best summer time fishing we've had in recent history!!! We are also starting to see some blues and spanish mackerel show up for some lighter action and some other great table fare. Give us a call soon to get your chance for some summer time fun and great action aboard the Anna Lynn!!!

Summer is here and the action is getting hot!!!

Hello everyone, Summer is here and we are changing seasons with it as it gets here and our fishing scene is shifting. After a successful spring season, we have put the big trolling gear away to collect some dust til the fall and are rigged up ready for the summer. Right now we are bottom fishing for croaker and a few spot, most of the fish we are catching are small to medium croakers with a few large ones mixed in. The action is good and makes for some great family fun or great for a business fishing trip. Bottom fishing should hang on throughout the summer with a mixed bag of spot, coraker, whiting, and grey trout of all sizes. Chumming and trolling for blues should start heating up within the next few weeks and the spanish mackerel will be sure to follow by the first of July. Hopefully once it gets good and hot on a daily basis, we'll have some red drum and cobias hanging around the reefs and target ships for some good live lining action with one of the biggest battles we can offer. We also have begun flats fishing the past couple weeks and so far the results have been fair. There is a decent amount of speckled trout around and a few puppy drum as well. This is a really good sign considering we are still in the early part of this season and should continue to get better as the summer goes along. Don't wait too long to book your summer trip and get your family and friends on board for a great day on the bay!!

Thanks to all who have been a part of this spring!!!

Hello everyone, Hope everyone is well and has gotten their shorts and flipflops out of storage and is enjoying the warm weather. First off, I'd like to thank everyone who has been or will be a part of our spring season for your business. I know most everyone who has been fishing this spring with or without us has seen that this spring has been unusually slow due to the late spawn caused by colder water temperatures. Its been much more of a grind than we've grown accustomed to, but overall it has still been a pretty good spring and we feel the best is yet to come, due to the late spawn a lot of our fish are just beginning to migrate back into the main part of the Bay and getting closer to us all the time. We've added some pictures to facebook and the website for you to see some of the highlights of our spring. There is one last chance for anyone who wants to get on board, saturday May 16th is an open boat trip for up to 8 people, the cost is $125 per person which includes the mate's tip as well. If things continue on the pattern they have been the 16th should be a great date to get your last chance to wrestle some of these big fish before they leave our local waters until the fall, so call today to get your spot confirmed.

Spring is finally here!!!

Hello all, Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some of these milder temperatures we are finally starting to get. All the signs of spring are showing up right on schedule, ospreys and gannets are being seen all over the Bay and large schools of menhaden and large schools of trophy rockfish are heading up the Bay to spawn. Things are pointing to a repeat of last spring which was a great season that lasted through the end of May. We are in the beginning stages of getting the boat painted and shined up for opening weekend in April. All our rods are getting fresh line and brand new baits ready to get chewed on. Our calendar is filling up fast and with trophy season just 3.5 weeks away, don't wait to book your date today. We only have 7 dates left available so don't miss out on your chance to get on board and get some of the first trophys of the year.

Old Man Winter hurt us again!!!

Hello everyone, Hope you all are staying warm aren't getting cabin fever just yet, its a long time until fishing season gets rolling again. As I'm sure you all are well aware Old Man Winter was harsh on our ocean rockfish season again, which seems to be a thing of the past. After 2 busts of a winter season in Virginia Beach and a tough winter in Ocean City, MD, I think we are going to stop heading to the ocean unless the fish show back up again instead of being stood up by them for a 3rd year in a row. For some reason the fish seeme to be trending an offshore route which keeps them outside of the 3 mile line and well out of our reach, groups that went offshore tagging fish encountered giant schools of fish from 12-20 miles offshore. They recorded releases of fish up to 68 lbs and hopefully these fish will be coming into the Bay to spawn this spring as they normally do. I apologize to those who had winter trips scheduled that didn't work out and hope to be able to make it up to all of you in the near future. On a brighter and warmer note, spring trophy season is right around the corner. We are going through the motions right now getting the boat cleaned up and hauled out so she'll be ready to go when the season opens on April 18. Our calendar is starting to fill up for the trophy season, but there are still open dates available to get your group on board for some of these monsters as they head up the Bay. Remember our spring season only lasts about a month of catching the big boys before we start to hit our warm days in MidMay so make sure you get your date in by May 10 to ensure your best chance of wrestling these big fish. Our calendar is always up to date on our website, www.c4charters.com, so get your group together soon and join us this spring for a great day on the Bay!!!
