Merry Christmas and Happy Fishing to all!!!

Hello everyone, Hope all is well and you are getting ready to enjoy the holidays!!! The holidays are a good time to get together and share some good fun with family and friends, what better way to do that than fishing with us!!! We have one full trip left out of Reedville for the year, Dec. 23 and a few more spots for our makeup trip this coming thursday, Dec. 18. Fishing is still red hot with birds working all over the Bay and fish up to 34" just about everyday and a few big hogs in the mix from time to time. Our trip for this Thursday is $130.00 per person and that includes tip and fish cleaning for the first 8 people interested in getting a few fillets and lots of cranking in one more time before Christmas. We are running a holiday special for the 23rd for $600.00 for 6 or less, if anybody wants to get the family or friends together for a relaxing day of fishing before the holidays. We will be leaving Reedville the day after Christmas and heading to Virginia Beach through the end of January. Things are looking like we will have a better ocean season than the past couple years with a good amount of fish being caught by the eelers down around Cape Charles already, the big ones are moving on down!!! Don't wait too long to get your name on the books for our last walk-on of 2014 or to get your first shot at some ocean rockfish of 2015!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!!

Red Hot Fall Fishing and Make Up Dates

Hello all, Hope everyone enjoyed a great Thanksgiving and is ready to start preparing for the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving week has given us a lot to be thankful for including some great rockfishing over the past week and signs that it is only going to get better! We've been catching limits with lots of releases lately and the fish are getting bigger all the time. Saturday, we found white rain with gannets pouring out of the sky and big fish underneath of them, by 10 a.m. we had our limit of overs and unders up to 16 lbs. and had released plenty of 26-32" fish. We have seen a few of the true hogs around up to 36 lbs. so far and there should be more of them coming around in the upcoming days. Great reports of big fish from north migrating down and some ocean fish already coming in the bay from down below looks to make for a banner fall and the majority of the big ocean fish are already to Ocean City, MD which means they should be making an appearance to Virginia Beach this winter!!! This time last year the main charge of fish seemed to still be up off the Northern New Jersey coast. We still have a few open dates out of Reedville between now and Christmas before we head to Virginia Beach and still have plenty of dates open down there so don't miss your chance to get on board and get some of these big bass!!! If you don't have a full group we are attempting to put together a couple makeup trips before we head to Virginia Beach. We will be doing these makeup trips for up to the first 8 people who sign up for $130 per person including tip, these dates will be Thursday Dec. 18 and Monday Dec. 22 out of Reedville. Don't miss out on your chance to get some big slabs of rockfish to share with your family for your holiday meal or they even make a great present.

Tentative Fall Schedule and Walk-on Trips

Hello everyone, Hope all is well and everyone is getting their winter clothes out and enjoying this cooler weather now that fall is here. Now that the fall weather is starting to set in, the fall fishing is too. We have been chumming and livelining catching some rockfish fro 16-24" and should steadily increase the size and amounts as the season goes on, and all the bluefish you want to catch from 1-4 lbs. which are a lot of fun on our light tackle. We will probably continue chumming through midNovember once we start trolling the channels and sounds looking for the big boys. We are setting up 2 walk-on dates for chumming and livelining for those who don't have full groups to get a chance at some of this light tackle action. November 1 and November 9 will be set up for walk on tirps out of Buzzard Point in Reedville. These dates are available for 5-8 people and will leave out at 6 am weather permitting. The cost of these trips is $130 per person which includes tip. We still have open dates to book your chumming trip or light tackle flats trip. Trout fishing is on fire with fish up to 25" and 5-6 lbs. and lots of 16-26" rockfish in the mix in the grass beds too. This is great topwater action and we'll be doing this through the end of the month. Our schedule is starting to shape up for fall and winter fishing and dates are starting to fall into place. As of now, we plan on trolling for the big rockfish out of Reedville starting around November 15 until Christmas. We will be heading down to Rudee to start our ocean season on Dec. 27 and we'll be fishing as long as the fish cooperate. Don't wait too long to book your fall or winter trip and get some meat for your freezer!!! For inquiries about walk-on trips, give us a call for more details.

Temperatures are falling and fishing is heating up!!!

Hello everyone, Hope everybody has enjoyed this fairly mild summer we have had this year and is ready for cool nights and fall colors. Here in Reedville, we are starting to change colors already we are going from yellow spotted Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish to already seeing those black and white striped fellas and a lot of speckled trout in the grass beds. Over the past couple weeks, we have tried some early season livelining with good numbers of 1-3 lb. blues and lots of striped bass too. This is a great sign to see these healthy 18-24" class fish already and we can't wait until Oct. 4 to start putting them in the box again. Things are pointing in the right direction for a great fall which we are due for as last year was somewhat of a dud. We did have a lot of action on most trips all Fall into December, but it wasn't the overall class of fish we have come to expect in the late fall. There is lots of bait around and with these rockfish already hanging around in good numbers on the reefs, it feels encouraging to say the least. Flats fishing also is getting better all the time. Last weekend we had over 40 speckled trout in the grass beds, which anyone knows is a lot of trout. They weren't all great big ones, but it was plenty of action with some nice blues mixed in too, great fights on our ultra light tackle. We still have weekend dates available for both types of trips through the end of October, flats fishing in the grass beds, both morning and evening trips, and full day charters livelining and trolling for rockfish and blues. Don't wait too long to miss your chance on some great fall action as we start to switch gears and get ready for the start of rockfish season. Tight lines and hope to see you on board soon!!!

Spanish Mackerel and Speckled Trout!!!

Hello everybody, Hope you are enjoying the last month of summer. Summer may be winding down, but the fishing is actually heating up. The spanish mackerel were a little late showing up, but they are here now and we are catching spanish and nice blues trolling now and see an occasional bull red drum while trolling to really test your strength, but not as many as the past couple seasons. The blues and mackerel make great table fare, but they aren't quite as good as my favorite fish, speckled trout. Trout season came in August 1st and has been pretty steady so far with a good early morning bite and a pluck along during the day. We've been catching trout up to 26" along with a mixed bag of blues and puppy drum in the shallows on our flats trips. We are also running a special on our flat fishing trips from now until October, $250 for 1-2 people for 3/4 day trips. This covers all your expense since there is no mate on these trips and these trout really test your skills and patience. Give us a call to come get your chance at some nice specks or some trolling action with nice mackerel and blues to take home and stock your freezer!!!

Summertime fishing is heating up!!!

Hello everyone, Hope you are enjoying the hot weather and are ready for some hot fishing. Our summer season started off slow with small croakers and spot and not being able to keep speckled trout has really hurt our flats fishing in the early part of the summer, but things are starting to get right. We have plenty of bluefish and a few spanish mackerel starting to show up which is a great sign this early in the summer. Trolling is becoming very steady with bluefish up to 3 lbs. and a few more mackerel showing up all the time. The big reds are getting into the area, but so far are very scattered. We haven't seen the big schools of them yet, but is still early. Flats fishing is also starting to get good with some big croaker and small blues in the grass beds, we are also catching some nice speckled trout which are hard to throw back knowing how good they are on the grill. Aug. 1, we will be able to start keeping the trout and even after the big kills this winter, it seems to be a good number of them around. We have weekend dates available as fishing looks to only keep getting better throughout the summer, so don't miss your chance to bring your family or friends aboard and enjoy a great day on the Bay with us.

Summer is here, time to switch gears!!!

Hello everyone, Hope all is well and you are ready for the start of summer. We are very thankful for everyone who joined us this spring for a great spring rockfish season, We were able to catch the big boys for a couple extra weeks than planned and were lucky enough to still have some great schoolie striper action over Memorial Day weekend. Now it is time to put the rockfish gear away and pull out the summer gear. We are now going to be bottom fishing, chumming, and trolling for blues, spanish mackerel, spot, and croakers. Bottom fishing is already starting to produce some decent numbers of fish, but so far its quality over quantity, lots of action with a few nice spot mixed in, but mostly some smaller croakers and spot. A few 1-2 lb. blues are showing up which is a great sign to see them this early and we'll be trolling for them in the coming weeks. Things are shaping up for a great start to the summer and hopefully will continue to get even better once we start getting consistently hot temperatures to bring the red drum and spanish mackerel up the Bay and they should be here by July. Don't miss your chance to bring the family and/or friends along and enjoy a great day on the Bay this summer with us.

Fish Tales and Karma

Hello everyone, Hope you are enjoying the nice spring weather we are having as we much as we have along with some great fishing. Our trophy season is entering its last week as we are wrapping it up after next sunday, May 11. First off I'd like to thank everyone who has been on board so far this spring and those who will be coming this week. We still have 2 open dates 5/6 and 5/7 as long as a last chance makeup trip for saturday. I still have 4 spots available for Sunday, $120 per person includes tip and one of your last chances to wrestle a big one for the spring. Yesterday was the last day of our spring rockfish tournament. Dad and I did some scouting on May 1, since it was the first day we could fish in Virginia. We went below Smith Point and threw our gear and began to look for some bait and bites. We fished for about a half hour and started to see some good signs. We were marking bait and seeing menhaden whip on the surface. The next turn and 2 board lines came tight with big fish. He fought one and I the other, mine came to the boat first and was 44" 37 lbs. After another 10 minutes of having a hard time moving his giant, we netted a 48" 43 lb monster. Satisfied with what we had seen, we decided to be tight lipped and fish VA for the first day of the tournament. This fish is my dad's first ever citation rockfish that he's reeled in. I'm sure you all know about karma and some of you probably believe and some don't, I do. We left early Friday am to put up a smoke screen and act as if we were making the long run to Tangier Sound we have been doing and snuck into Virginia. We started fishing at 6:30 and fished ALL DAY LONG. The bait had disappeared and so had the giants. We finally managed 1 20 lb. fish and I realized karma had got me. I tried to be sneaky and selfish and it got me. Day 2 of the tournament was much better fishing, but we never got the one we were looking for. Moral of the story is to always share with your fellow fisherman your success and it will always help out in the long run. Maybe next year will be our year to win but until then we'll keep dragging around looking for the big ones. Hopefully we'l see you on board, don't forget to book your trip as trophy season winds down. We'll start chumming May 17 and bottom fishing will take over in June.

Spring Season is already half over!!!

Hello everyone, It seems once we start fishing, time sure does fly. It drags on for so long until we get the lines in the water, but then it flies by. Our trophy season is already nearing its midway point. Fishing has been from fair to great so far this season. We've had days where we have been done by 9 am and others where it's been a slow all day pluck. It has been more good days than slow ones, but as they say that's fishing. We still have dates available to bring your group between now and 5/11 the end of our trophy season. We are also still working on makeup trips for 5/5 and 5/8. I have a couple spots left for 5/5 and we are still completely open for 5/8. Bring your buddies and call us for a trip and a chance at getting your first big bass of the year or join us on one of our make up days and make some new fishing buddies!! See you on board soon.

A delayed start, but it doesn't get any better!!

Everybody that has a boat knows that there is always something to be worked on or be fixed and sometimes these things don't happen at the best time. Last thursday, we had an alternator go bad, and wouldn't you know it it took 2 days and four different alternators to get the right one and get going again. This was one of those times when it needed to be done yesterday and we missed opening day for the first time in 4 years. After getting everything back together and enjoying a laid back Easter Sunday we started fishing today. I had a great group today and one man in particular has fished with me since day 1 and has never had a citation rockfish. He has seen quite a few of them caught, but has never been on the right end of the rod. Today was a little different for him and a first for us since we've been running trips. We started fishing around 7:30 and had our limit by 10:30 and had thrown a few back and had a couple bites that didn't come tight. What was really special about this trip was everyone on board had a citation today. Things looked great today with bait balls everywhere and lots of hungry fish around. From what we saw and heard today, it sounds like we are in for another great spring!!! We still have open dates and are still trying to put together a few make up trips, those dates are 4/28,5/1,5/5, and 5/10. So give us a call and bring your group for a great day on the Bay or come meet some new fishing buddies for $120/person on one of our make up trips. As always our calendar is up to date and we look forward to seeing you on board!

Spring Trophy Makeup Trips

Hello everyone, The time has come and spring trophy season is here. Starting this Saturday April 19 thru May 15 we will be hunting the big ones and so far from the preseason reports I've heard things are looking good. I'll be doing some prefishing the endo of the week and will post pics then. This year, we will be trying to throw together some make up trips for the spring season. I have spoke to a few people who can't get enough people together for a full group that usually fish with us during the winter. After the past 2 winter seasons, I understand skepticism from some, but last spring was phenomenal and so far all the signs I've seen and heard about make it sound even more promising than last year. Make up charters will be for 5-8 people and be filled first come first serve. I am going to attempt to accomodate everyone as best I can if anyone is interested and has a specific date in mind, especially if you have 2-4 people, I can usually find a straggler or 2 to fill the boat and also have a few weekend dates availablefor makeups as well. The cost of makeups will be $120 a person including tip for the mate. The planned makeup trips will be April 19, 22, 27, 28 and May 5, 9, and 10. The calendar is still up on the website if anyone has a small group and certain date in mind. We are looking forward to a great spring season now that the weather has finally broke, so grab your flip flops and t shirts and we'll see you soon.

Spring has sprung and the bass are here!!!

Hello everybody, I think spring has finally reared its head and is starting to show. Old man winter sure stayed a little too long this year for my liking, but I believe he has finally loosened his grip on us. With that being said, we have a lot going on trying to catch up on our spring maintenence, because it can be difficult to paint and wax when she's covered in ice and snow. We have done a lot of sanding and painting the past week, redoing cabin floors, the entire cockpit and many other small upgrades and fixes. I can't wait to get out there and get fishing in 2.5 weeks. Trophy season is getting close and we still have some open dates including OPENING DAY, Saturday, April 19th!!! There are also a couple of sundays open and quite a few weekdays to get your rockfish fix on. Most of you are probably like me and haven't even seen one since early January or even longer than that. All signs are pointing to a great spring season. The big fish are here as evidence by the commercial catch over the past month and the menhaden are here in numbers I haven't seen in a while. I drove across the Whitestone bridge and it looked like a bird show down the river with so many gannets falling out the sky feeding on the menhaden. Don't wait too long to get your date for the spring trophy season and get your first crack at a big one for the year. As always, our calendar is up to date at www.c4charters.com, looking forward to seeing you on board soon. Hope all is well!!!

The geese and swans have been heading North the past few days and more and more gannets and ospreys are starting to show up which means the spring run of menhaden is getting close. With the menhaden coming, so shall the rockfish and we all love rockfish!!! Things are starting to shape up and we are looking forward to a great spring season starting April 19th. Don't wait too long to book your trip as trophy season lasts through May 15. Check our calendar out to get your date on the books and hook into a big one!!! Right now, the boat is on the hill getting a few new additions and some routine painting and waxing. We can't wait to get back in the water and start hooking up. Call today to book your trip.

Spring is coming?? Win a trip with us!!!

Hello everyone, Hope all is well with everyone and you guys are staying warm. It may not feel like it, but spring IS right around the corner and with spring comes Spring Trophy Season. After a miserable winter and equally miserable winter rockfishing season, I'm itching to get my fix of some big bass. Spring season opens on Saturday April 19 this year and hopefully it will be as good as last year's season. The boat is going on the hill for some maintenance and new additions this week and to get all cleaned and shined up for April. Spring trophy season produced more citations last springr than has since the Anna Lynn has been in the water and hopefully we are going to pick up right where we left off chasing the big bruisers. Our calendar is up to date on the website and weekend dates are almost gone so don't wait too long to get your trip lined up and get your trophy fish since I'm sure you guys have been wanting to get one on the line for as long as I have. There is also other ways to get on board with us this year, we have teamed up with The American Heart Association to auction off a charter in a celebrity chef fishing experience. The idea is to go fishing on board the Anna Lynn with us and catch your dinner, after your trip celebrity chef Chris Hill will come to your home and cook your catch for your dinner. This is going to be auctioned off at their Charity Auction this saturday March 8 along with other great items and adventures. You can view their full list of auction items at hamptonroadsheartball.ahaevents.org/. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at anytime and don't wait too long to book your spring trip and get your trophy fix taken care of for the spring!!!
